Talks between BDO Level talks intended to normalize situation in Kanhmun-Damcherra area cannot make meaning headway. The talks between Peace Committee of Mizoram and Tripura held in Kanhmun PWD IB this afternoon was presided over by Zawlnuam BDO, Lalnundika. The delibarations covered four points raised by Langkaih and Taitesena Group YMA. The demands were apology from the Bru leaders for crimes committed in Mizoram soil, accusing Mizoram Police and IR Batallion responsible for the death of Sebaram Reang, no bandh, road block or protest against Mizo Community in Damcherra and payment of 10 lakh compensation to Monav of Bung\huam village who was allegedly robbed by armed Bru robbers. In response to three points raised by Mizoram side representatives of the Bru Community said, they cannot agree to any of the demands without consultation of their leaders. On the demand for payment of compensation to Monav, Damcherra BDO, V. Darlawng said, this will be brought to the notice of Tripura govt. The next meeting is to be held as soon as the Peace Committee of Tripura is ready. With no meaningfull progress in the talks the road block between the two states continues. The programme for identification of Bru refugees in Naisingpara and Assapara camps will also remain umaterialized untill a conducive situation is created.
