Parawl Pu Vanlaltlinga son of Zahlira, Saikhamakawn, Aizawl is the man behind Saiha blaze tragedy.

1. 29 homes were destroyed.

2. 49 families became homeless.

3. PHE etc. Minister Pu S.Hiato and Pu Zodintluanga, UD & PA etc. Minister left Aizawl for Saiha on Thursday, February 02, 2012 to do the needful.

4. 2 Pigs were burnt to death.

5. Fire tragedy took place at Saiha New Market, Bazaar Veng (old name Subzi Bazaar).

6. The very same night, Pu Vanlaltlinga was arrested and interrogated by Saiha Police.

7. Fortunately there was no loss of human life.

8. Three persons injured: Injured persons are Zonunsanga, Aizawl Tlangnuam who is working in Fire Department, Hrongia, New Colony Saiha and one boy Dennish Son of Sangpuia, Saiha Bazaar.

9. As soon as fire incident took place, Saiha D.C./District Bawrhsap Pu Kunal, IAS and his Subordinate Officer rushed to the spot.

10. Public Works Department (PWD) will help to rebuild home 18×24 ft for each victim’s family.

11. Saiha D.C and MADC (Mara Autonomous District Council) announced a compensation of Rs.10,000 each to families of the victims. Saiha D.C Office provided 100 blanket and 100 Silpauline to each family.

12. Rural Development department donated Galvanized Corrugated Aluminium Roofing Sheet (Rangva) to help fire victims. Task force has been set up for building fire victims’ new homes.

13. Properties worth Rs.7,81,65,000 have been guttet.

14. Three MADC quarters destroyed.

15. Mizoram Governor Shri Vakkom B.Purushothaman announced a compensation of Rs.78000/- to fire victims.

16. Zodintluanga, Minister, UD & PA Department provided Rs.40000/- to each fire victim to rebuild new home and he has provided Rs.1000 to each family.

17. Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation Department, Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP) provided Rs.11,60,000/- to victims’ families. Each victim will get Rs.1,70,000 to build new home. Total amount to be provided in rupees are Rs.49,30,000 (49.3 Lakh) The remaining amount will be provided shortly.
